ELKINGTON, MASON & CO. , ENGLISH GREEK REVIVAL PARCEL-GILT ELECTROPLATE CUP, C. 1850, H 8 1/4":Lobed bowl with six figural reserves about the top featuring scenes from Greek mythology including Daedalus and Icaraus, Arachne, and others, reserves of putti below with banners having inscriptions; the standard features three rams' masks above three kneeling nudes with wings alternating with a snake, crab and lizard. Applied oval mark at the underside reads "Elkington, Mason & Co., Publishers, Fine Art Manufacture" with shield and thistle. Style is consistent with works by Elkington, Mason & Co. featured at The Exhibition of 1851, London. (rev.20071109)
