American School(ca. 1780) , oil on canvas portrait of Reverand James Sproat, 1721-1793, 11" x 8 1/4". Sproat served as the Pastor of the 2nd Presbyterian Church of Philadelphia for 25 years. An early hand written account of the Sproat family accompanies this lot.
