French, 19th century. A bureau plat with gilt brass and ormolu mounts, the top comprising a black leather writing surface with embossed Greek key border framed by kingwood veneer crossbanding over gilt brass molding, each corner decorated with a high relief gilt bronze ram's head, each of the rams with horns surmounting the table top, over the mahogany veneered frieze comprising a frieze drawer on either side of the table with diagonal veneers and brass mounts, with swag pulls, the keyhole escutcheon surmounted by a classical bow, all raised on four cabriole legs terminating in brass sabots. Approximate height 33", width 52", depth 26.5".
