Italian School, late 19th century. "Italian Gothic Courtyard", oil on canvas, signed lower right "A. Ogni-bue, '93". Painting depicts a view on the courtyard of a gothic cathedral with a double arcade lined with peaked arches topping Corinthian columns, surrounding a garden of low sculpted boxwoods centered by a small figural sculpture in the middle of the courtyard. An elderly male beggar casting a long shadow walks across the foreground shrouded in brown robes carrying a cane and alm box. The cathedral's belfry rises up in the background beside the roof of the church's nave. Unframed 25.75" x 18.25".
