After Ivan Kramskoi (Russian, 1837-1887). "Portrait of an Unknown Woman" - c.1980s, oil on canvas, apparently unsigned. Painting after the prize Russian painting of 1883 currently housed in the Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow, Russia. Figural painting depicting a young raven haired woman seated in an open carriage at the Anichkov Bridge in St. Petersburg, Russian, the figure dressed in a black fur coat and wearing fur muff and black hat adorned with a white feather, her face bearing rosy cheeks and proud expression on a handsome face, the carriage set within an urban landscape with stone buildings to left and right, and with barren tree at left below grey sky suggesting approaching winter. Additional spellings of artist's name: Ivan Kramskoj, Ivan Kramskoy. Framed approximately 38.25" x 48.25". Unframed approximately 30.5" x 40.5": Note: The copy is known as the "Jessee" (named for a previous owner) and was painted by an unknown Chinese artist while he was jailed in Shanghai, China during the Cultural Revolution.
