ROBERT ALAN THOM (US 1915-1980), OIL ON CANVAS, 42" X 52", RECLINING FEMALE NUDE - SALLY STANFORD:Signed lower right; gilt original frame. Provenance: painting hung in "Sally's Saloon" at the City Grill in Birmingham, MI. Sally Stanford was a colorful madam who opened a brothel on Pine Street in San Francisco in the mid 1930's. She purchased the Valhalla Restaurant in Sausalito, CA and became the mayor of Sausalito in 1976. Includes the acrylic framed description placard that appeared with the painting when it was at the City Grill.
