Miniature painted dower chest, probably Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, ca. 1800 , the lid and front decoration with ivory panels and large floral sprays emanating from urns within a red border on a green sponge ground supported by ochre sponge decorated bracket feet, 15" h., 23" w. Two similarly decorated chests are illustrated in Fabian, The Pennsylvania German Decorated Chest , fig. 150 and 151.
