METAL & WOOD CHESS SETS, CONTEMPORARY, TWO PIECES, H 2 1/2" - 6 1/2":Including 1 set with a piece of paper that reads "The Charles Martel A tour de force of simplicity and elegance. Handcrafted by Richard Synek. Composed of solid metal with bronze and nickel for the contrasting sides. Dedicated to the élan of Charles Martel, prince of the Franks, who defeated the Moslems at Tours, 732 A.D." -however, the pieces within the case/board do not appear to be the originals. Also included is one box with carved wood chess pieces as well as pieces for backgammon; the chess board hinges and fits as a drawer in the lower compartment.
