JAPANESE SATSUMA VASE BY KINKOZAN, C. 1890-1900, H 7 1/2":Ovoid form with short neck, having two rectangular panels, one of which is painted with a woman and a girl, the other a cockerel and chicken, signed (see photo). Provenance: Dr. Donald Sutherland of Canada, purchased from the Japanese display at the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exhibition, St. Louis, Missouri; acquired by William and Jo-Ann Van Rooy, 1968, and their collection was recently featured in the book SHAPE & DECORATION IN JAPANESE EXPORT CERAMICS by Nancy N. Schiffer, copyright 2002, p.147.
