THOMAS JEFFERSON, JAMES MADISON, SIGNED LAND GRANT ALSO HENRY DEARBORN, JAN. 8, 1808, H 14", W 12":consists of a land-grant document signed by President Thomas Jefferson, Secretary of State James Madison and Secretary of War Henry Dearborn (signed "H. Dearborn Sec. of War" on verso) given to two Revolutionary War veterans, a Peter Fullum and Samuel Elliott each receiving 100 acre grants between the Little Miami and Sciota Rivers, north-west of the of the River Ohio. Dated in Washington, January 8, 1808, 32th year of independence; The signed endorsement by Secretary of War Dearborn verified the two men's service in the Revolutionary War serving in the "Virginia Line on Continental Establishment"; see additional photos in on-line catalog of complete transcription of document; original government seal at lower left; affidavit on file signed by great-granddaughter of the Postmaster of Mechanicsburg, Ohio during the 1920's, who found the document, attesting said postmaster found the Jefferson signed land grant in a box of old out dated local land records of the area. She attests this document has stayed in the possession of her family since discovered by her great-grandfather, eventually being bequeathed to her by her mother; framed and matted under glass;
