JAPANESE SATSUMA VASE BY KINKOZAN, H 3 3/4":Ovoid shape decorated with two panels, one of which depicts a shogun and his generals, the other a street scene with men, women and children, signed (see photo). Provenance: Dr. Donald Sutherland of Canada, purchased from the Japanese display at the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exhibition, St. Louis, Missouri; acquired by William and Jo-Ann Van Rooy, 1968, and their collection was recently featured in the book SHAPE & DECORATION IN JAPANESE EXPORT CERAMICS by Nancy N. Schiffer, copyright 2002, p.155.
