GEORGE III STERLING SOUP PLATES, LONDON, 1795-96, TWO, DIA 10":Each having a scalloped edge with gadrooned rim and engraved crest. Hallmarks include a lion passant, crowned leopard, king's profile, date letter "u", and maker's mark "WF" enclosed, possibly William Fountain. Totaling approximately 40.4 troy oz. Provenance: Christie's, Rockefeller Center, New York, sale 2176, lot 311, June 2009.
