French, 19th Century. Matched pair of French Regence style walnut carved fauteuils, each with arched rectangular back above a padded back and seat covered in cream fabric, the downswept arms with strapwork carved terminals with shells, rocaille, foliage and cabriole supports, the seat-rail centered by a shell flanked by foliate scrolls, on cabriole legs headed by shells and joined by X-shaped stretchers and terminating in hoof feet. Height 45.5", width 25.25" (arm to arm), seat depth 21.5", seat height 16.5".
