Imre Gergely (Hungarian, 1868 - 1914). "Romantic Market Scene", oil on canvas, signed lower right "Gergely Imre". Painting depicts a young elegant family with one young daughter, a beautiful wife with parasol, and father in top hat, shopping at a market and being helped by various figures, old and young, at a booth filled with caged birds, with bountiful flowers and trees all around. Hungarian export stamp on verso of canvas, and vintage collection or gallery label on verso of stretcher "Hoffmann Ferenc Képszalon, Budapest IV, Karoly-korut".
