Homer Dodge Martin (American/ New York/ Minnesota, 1836-1897). "Coast of Normandy", oil on canvas, signed lower right "H.D. Martin". Painting depicts two naively painted figures in silhouette sharing the carriage of a single pail down the beach at low tide on the coast of Normandy, France. Cliffs covered in greenery line the left side of the painting while a sprawling sandy beach leads into a thin band of blue ocean at the horizon line. Label on verso "Coast of Normandy by Homer D. Martin", brass plaque on lower front frame "Coast of Normandy, Homer D. Martin". Framed 27.5" x 19.5", unframed 19.5" x 27.5".
