Late 19th century, after the painting by Christian Leberecht Vogel (German, 1759-1816) entitled "The Sons of the Artist" painted c. 1790, which is currently housed in the Old Masters Picture Gallery, Dresden State Art Collection in Dresden, Germany. Apparently unsigned. Painting depicts two young boys seated side by side on a red woven rug on a stone patio, one holding a book of pictograms and staring off into the distance as the other flips the pages and studies the book. Inscription on verso "Copie nach No. 1268 der königl Gemälde galerie zu Dresden (Copy after No. 1268 at the Royal Picture Gallery of Dresden)". Framed 31.75" x 41", unframed 29" x 38.5"._x000D_
