American School, late 19th/ early 20th century. In the manner of Henri-Nicolas Van Gorp (French, c.1756 - c.1819), oil on canvas, apparently unsigned. Two small portraits, perhaps of a brother and sister, comprising of a portrait of a boy about age eight depicted seated in bust length with open white collar overlaying a navy blue coat with gold buttons, wide blue eyes set within a porcelain complected face, and a small dog at right; and a portrait of a girl, about age ten, depicted at half bust wearing a light blue dress with low neck, brown hair parted in the middle and held back by two headbands, and a yellow bird perched on her shoulder. Framed 17" x 14", unframed approximately 14" x 11".
