Sushil Mukherjee (Indian b. 1915- ). Mixed media on paper depicting a female nude with abstract patterned wrap around waist standing on the left next to a seated monkey with two birds in the foreground. Signed and dated lower left "SUSHIL MUKHERJEE--1957". Faux bamboo framed 25.6" x 15.6". Image size approximately 16.75" x 8". Sushil Muherjee took part in the artist in residence programme at The State University of New York at Albany, supported by The National Endowment for the Arts. Mukherjee was a Fellow at Simon's Rock College of Bard in Great Barrington, Massachusetts and served as an art critic for The Berksbire Eagle in Pittsfield, Massachusetts from 1961-1966 as well as for The Statesman in Calcutta, India from 1967-68.
