Continental School, 19th century. "Gypsy Dance", oil on canvas, apparently unsigned, verso of frame with label with hand written script that reads "No. 16 C. Mannesheim", later inscription on bottom of oval stretcher with "Gypsy Dancers C. Manneheim". Painting depicting a group of figures (presumably gypsies) in an expansive landscape beside a river with figural sculptures raised on pedestals on banks in an environment with green trees under cloudy blue sky. Painting contained in an ornate carved giltwood frame. Framed approximately 25" x 21.75". Unframed approximately 16.25" x 13". Provenance: Trosby Galleries, Palm Beach, Florida whereby acquired by the present owner in 1969. Copy of notarized document noting that item was purchased from Trosby Galleries in 1969 available upon request.
