American School(ca. 1840) , oil on canvas portrait, inscribed verso "Roderick McLeod born Scotland May 1st 1800 died Jersey City Dec 7th 1885", 10" x 8". Accompanying this lot is the sitters Civil War appointment to Second Lieutenant of the 13th Regiment Brigade of Artillery of N.Y. dated 1861 and signed by William Seward.
