Louis Icart (French, 1880-1950). "Smoke", working proof etching and drypoint on Rives paper with pencil inscriptions likely by the artist, pencil signed lower right. Etching depicting a lounging partially nude woman at center upon a fur pelt covered chaise or bed, her arms lain back over her red flower adorned head as she turns her face to right holding an expression of relaxation and ease, a cigarette holder with smoking cigarette to her right hand attached to wrist by hanging jewelry chains that also adorn her neck and bosom, the right foreground with a lidded silver urn atop a pedestal with flower blossoms scattered around its base. The etching to an oversized sheet of watermarked Rives paper with pencil inscriptions to margin in French that seemingly indicate engraver's and artist's notes on texture, tone, and color. Framed approximately 34.5" x 40.75", sheet size approximately 19.875" x 27.25".
