Brazil, circa 1972. Mid Century Modern sling or lounge chair designed by Percival Lafer featuring a low profile, open frame made from Brazilian rosewood with slanted arms and covered in tan leather resting on three woven straps and held in place by straps mounted at the arms and back. Labeled under seat. Approximate height 27", width 34" (arm to arm), seat depth 19", seat height 14.5". Note: Percival Lafer received an architecture degree at the Mackenzie University in Sao Paolo, Brazil and later went on to run his family furniture firm, The Lafer Company. Lafer was known for innovative design work. In addition to his state of the art furniture designs, Lafer created a classically styled roadster, the MP Lafer, which was produced from 1974-1990. Lafer is known as one of the pioneers of the Brazilian Modernist Movement.
