American, second half of 18th century. A secretary desk and bookcase, mahogany with oak and Southern yellow pine secondary wood, the bookcase comprising two glass doors decorated in Chinese-style fretwork, opening to shelf interior with three slats for shelves, back lined in painted grain, surmounting slant top secretary desk with two baize-lined supports, opening to two rows of four cubby holes over two small drawers lined in Southern yellow pine with small brass pulls over one longer drawer flanking central prospect drawer opening to two interior cubby holes decorated with conforming scalloped molding and two small drawers, surmounting four desk drawers lined in oak at sides and Southern yellow pine at bottom and back, all raised on cyma curve carved front feet.
