GEORGE III STERLING CANDLESTICKS BY EBENEZER COKER, LONDON, 1762-63, PAIR, H 10 1/2":Each cast sterling silver candlestick has an inverted baluster stem raised on a lobed base adorned with shells and scrolls, with detached conforming nozzle. Hallmarks at the underside of each candlestick include a lion passant, crowned leopard, date letter Gothic G, and maker's mark EC for Ebenezer Coker (see additional photo); one nozzle is stamped with a lion passant and maker's mark. The base of each candlestick and the rim of each nozzle is engraved with a crest comprising a crown above a star and crescent within a laurel wreath. Provenance: Purchased from J. H. Bourdon-Smith, Ltd., London, June 1988. Totaling approximately 41.7 troy oz.
