DESIREE TOUSSAINT LEGRAND . 950 SILVER & CRYSTAL COVERED URN, C. 1818-1834, H 8 1/2", W 7 1/4":French Empire period covered urn with cut crystal insert surrounded by a silver frame which is decorated, in part, with figures of females playing a lyre with scrolling handles at either side all ending on four paw feet. Stamped with maker's mark of Desiree Toussaint Legrand as well as a Paris marking of the head of Minerva with "1" beside it, enclosed within an oval as well as the profile of a bearded man with "1" next to him all enclosed within an octagonal form (indicating fineness of silver as .950). Frame and cover total approximately 13.47 trz.
