British School, first half 19th century. "Portrait of Beauty with Flower Garland", oil on canvas, apparently unsigned. A monumental and very fine portrait painting depicting a young brunette lady at knee length seated wearing a luscious mint green silk dress and holding a flower garland or wreath in her hands with one elbow propped upon a stone pedestal over which can be seen a garden or landscape with trees under a blue sky, the figure with very pale porcelain skin and long dark hair tied back and lying forward over her shoulder with a coy and subtly smiling expression to her face as she peers out at viewer. Painting to a hand carved wood Chippendale style frame. Framed approximately 64.75" x 46.5", unframed approximately 49.75" x 40.25".
