Manner of Joseph-Emmanuel Zwiener (French, 1849-1895), circa late 19th/ early 20th century. A serpentine form commode with striking diagonal mahogany veneers and brass mounts, the molded top comprising rosso levanto marble with serpentine front edge, over the serpentine drawer facade decorated with allover rocaille foliate scroll brass mounts with flower and acanthus leaf motifs, acanthus scrolled knee mounts and foliate scroll and floral side mounts, resting on two cabriole front legs and slightly curved back legs all terminating in brass sabots. Approximate height 36", width at widest point 60", depth 25".
