Charles Branwhite (British, 1817-1880). "English Landscape", oil on canvas, apparently unsigned. Horizontal naturalistic landscape painting depicting a scenic view on a river set below a castle at center in distance with its turrets reaching above the treeline, the calm river taking a serpentine path through the late summer landscape with a single figure at lower left walking along the river bank toward the viewer and the opposite bank full with lush trees with branches hanging low over the water. Verso of frame with paper label for the San Antonio Museum Association bearing the deaccessioned number 53-82-249 G (1), also with three other paper labels, presumably from the museum, with similar information and the deaccessioning date of February 1987.
