Widdicomb Furniture Company (American, founded 1858), 20th century. A matched set of eight Biedermeier style cherry and ebony dining chairs comprising two arm (No. JW-5549) and six side chairs (No. JW-5548) , each arched chevron crest rail with waisted splat ebonized inside the curves over a trapezoidal seat upholstered in blue fabric with gold stars raised on tapering quadrangular sabre legs. Chairs retain Widdicomb tag to the underside. Approximate height of dining chair 37.5”, width 24.5” (arm to arm), seat depth 17.5”, seat height 18”. Approximate height of side chair 37.5” width 19.75”, seat depth 17.5”, seat height 18”.
