Alexander Wilson (Scottish, 1766-1813), engraved by Alexander Lawson (British, d. 1846). Two hand colored engravings from "American Ornithology", second edition - 1859, plates 56 and 58, published by Collins & Co. (New York) & Harrison Hall (Philadelphia). Depicted birds include Esquimaux Curlew, Red backed Snipe, Semipalmated S, Marbled Godwit, Red-breasted Snipe, Long-Legged Avoset, Solitary Sandpiper, Yellow-Shanks Snipe, and Tell-tale Snipe. Each framed approximately 21.25" x 23.75". Each plate size approximately 10.375" x 13.25".
