BISQUE DOLL, C. 1900, L 14":Bisque head with hand-painted features and glass fixed brown eyes, open mouth revealing teeth, and impressed at the neck with Goebel factory mark (see additional photo), and jointed composition body. Franz D. Goebel and his son William Goebel founded their porcelain factory F & W Goebel in 1861, located in Oeslau, Thüringia, Germany to produce porcelain dolls. Early Goebel objects were marked with a triangle and quarter moon symbol, after 1900 they began using a crown above the WG initials, as is seen here.
