George Catlin (American/ Pennsylvania, 1796-1872). "Archery of the Mandans", chromolithograph, published in 1845. Lithograph depicts a group of Mandan Indian male tribesmen in a landscape setting wearing loincloths and feathered headdresses, many of them with bows and arrows having just shot or preparing to shoot, with a pile of spears and animal pelts to lower right corner and a hill in background carrying several figures on horses. Framed approximately 27 1/8" x 32 3/4", sight size approximately 15 1/8" x 20 7/8"._x000D_
