Japanese, Edo Period (1603-1867), likely early 19th century. A kakemono or hanging scroll of watercolor on silk depicting a tall prunus fruit branch with two birds resting on it near the top, Marked to lower right with three calligraphic marks above a red seal mark. Painting with floral silk surround and stained wood roller. Overall approximately 77.5" x 20" (including roller). Box to a wooden box marked to end with paper label bearing two lines of black calligraphic marks. Note: accompanied by a letter dated 1969 from Takashi Kasakabe of Takashimaya Co. of Tokyo, Japan stating authenticity and period.
