American, 19th century. A pair of engravings comprising of one by Francois Dubois-Tesselin (French, b.1832) after Louis Mathieu Didier Guillaume (American, 1816-1892), "Robert E. Lee at the Battle of Chancellorsville", published circa 1884 by Goupil & Cie, Paris, and by M. Knoedler, New York, pencil inscription under image "Robert E. Lee", the print depicting a composed Lee at center on horseback with a battle raging around him, a fallen solder to left with bandaged eye reaching up to the General and figures on horseback behind him; the mate being after David Bendann (American (Maryland), mid 19th century), "Stonewall Jackson", the engraving depicting the great Confederate Army general during the American Civil War, possibly at the Battle of Fredericksburg, the general on horseback with right arm extended raising his hat as dust billows all around, with a fallen soldier lower right and several soldiers to the horse's hindquarters, inaccurate pencil inscription below image "Andrew Jackson". Each framed approximately 42" x 36", sight size approximately 28" x 22".
