Japanese, late 19th/ early 20th century. A large porcelain Imari lidded temple urn of tapered cylindrical form with eight faceted sides decorated on tondo with hand painted blooming branches in a landscape with two phoenixes flying through scene, with leaf tip band at ankle above cloud scroll band at round foot, with blue vine band at shoulder surmounted by band of multicolored chrysanthemum blossoms and alternating patterned cartouches around octagonal mouth, the round lid similarly patterned and having octagonal faceted rim and bun finial. Unmarked. Approximately 26" tall, 15" diameter at widest point.
