American, 2nd half 20th century. A group of two RIAA (Recording Industry Associate of American) separately framed gold and platinum records issued to Capricorn Records for the album "Transistor" by the band 311 comprising of one to commemorate sales of more than 500,000 copies of the album, cassette, and c.d., and one to commemorate sales of more than 1,000,000 copies of the album, cassette, and c.d., each record mounted in a shadowbox and being sliced into quarters and mounted within a round sheet of acrylic with the cd staged at its center, all imposed over an enlarged facsimile of the album cover in vibrant colors with a plaque and RIAA hologram below it mounted at an angle within the box, the pair of shadowboxes with a single "311" graphic superimposed over the surface across the two boxes. Provenance: Acquired directly from Capricorn Records (83 Walton Street, Atlanta, Georgia 30303) circa 2006 by private collection in Atlanta, Georgia. Each shadowbox approximately 19" x 16" x 2.75".
