Willie Anne Wright (American (Virginia), b. 1924). "A Group (I)" - c.1970, oil on canvas, apparently unsigned. Large format figural painting depicting an abstracted figural grouping of eight people set within a neutral plane, one figure to left of center with a defined face and wearing a green dress, a figure to lower right holding a child in arms, and other anonymous figures surrounding them, some areas of canvas treated with washes of color and others left untouched exposing the underlying gesso layer. Inscribed to verso of canvas with painting title. Paper label to verso of stretcher from Twentieth Century Gallery, Williamsburg, Virginia. Framed approximately 48.25" x 59.75", unframed approximately 47.25" x 59".
