English, late 19th century. George III style carved giltwood overmantel triple section mirror in landscape form, carved in the rococo Chinese Chippendale taste, with elaborate foliate pierced and pagoda cresting, the entire frame with scrolling acanthus, ‘C’ scroll, floral festoons. leafy foliage and icicles, the three sections divided by two column pilasters decorated with foliage and arch and pillar towards to base. The sides are formed with an S-shaped carved scroll with trailing vines and leafy foliage, to one side a perching ho ho bird, to the other a mythological serpent or dolphin. Approximate height 45", width 62", depth 5.5".
