American School, 19th century. "Flower Sellers", oil on canvas, apparently unsigned. Verso of canvas with stenciled mark "PREPARED BY EDWARD DECHAUX"--dating the work to circa 1834-1860. Figural painting depicting a young woman flower seller wearing cap and holding large woven basket of flowers next to her two children assisting her at work with smaller baskets of their own beside a brown and white spotted dog in an outdoor village setting with stone building with arched windows behind. Framed approximately 33" x 27.8". Unframed approximately 30.25" x 25".
