American School, early 20th century. "Dogs at Play", oil on canvas, signed lower right "D. Giles". Genre painting depicting a mother dog and her two puppies on a hay covered ground, the mother dog looking out at viewer behind two puppies playfully tugging on either end of a roll of fabric set atop an unfastened leather collar or belt. Stencil mark to verso of canvas "MSN National Art Gallery", possibly for the major museum in Sydney, Australia. Framed approximately 32" x 27.625". Unframed approximately 24" x 20".
