EMPIRE STYLE REED & BARTON SILVER PLATE BUTTER KEEPER, C1870, H 6 1/2", W 8":Reed & Barton silver plate butter keeper with a cow finial on the lid along with engraved flower designs. Tray insert inside along with area for ice. Exterior has four soldiers with shields and arms raised which originally held swords in the hands. Two handles at the sides. Empire style legs with hoof feet. Marked: "Mfg'd and Plated by Reed & Barton Patent Applied For" on the underside of keeper at edge.
