Probably Syrian. Greek style finely rendered carved marble sculptural fragment of a classically styled nude male satyr with curled and wavy hair, long beard and pointed ears. Figure with twisting torso, missing arms, and legs and with calm facial expression. Apparently unsigned. Possibly 1st or 2nd century A.D. Figural sculptural carving mounted on a later metal rectangular plinth base. Overall height (on base) 10.125". Provenance: Purchased from Frank Kovacs Ancient Coins & Antiquities in mid 1980's.
