English, early 20th century. An Adams style paint and parcel gilt decorated settee with scrolled back rail having three hand painted panels, the center panel painted with putto holding a lyre aside stacks of books representing the arts over pierced carved back centered with painted floral still life panel within scroll carved arms on vasiform uprights over a custom upholstered seat with bellflower painted apron raised on front spiral turned and tapered legs. The whole outlined with black lacquer banding and decorated with parcel gilt. Approximate height 35.37", width 42.5" (arm to arm), seat depth 20", seat height 18".
