Needlework Sampler, made by Lucy French, probably early 19th century, silk threads on a linen ground depicting alphabet panels and indistinct signature stitched into oval reserves, above trees and flowers enclosed in a sawtooth border, (toning, fading), 12 1/4 x 15 in. Note: A Boston framer's label and a label inscribed "This sampler worked by my grandmother Spofford Signed Charlotte C. Peabody" are affixed to the reverse.
