Fancy Poplar Dovetailed Chest, Middle Atlantic States, c. 1830s, the hinged top with molded edge lifts above the cavity having a facade with molding at the base above heavy turned feet, the old fanciful painted decoration on a light mustard ground includes burnt umber simulated quarter-fan and cross-banded contrasting veneer inlays in outline, as well as faux bird's-eye maple on all exposed surfaces, ht. 21 3/4, wd. 43, dp. 18 in.
