Mariano Fortuny Silk Pleated "Delphos" Gown with Venetian Glass Beadwork, c. 1910, Venice, Italy, moss/olive-colored, with beading at top shoulder which continues around armholes and down side seam, with hand-decorated sash/belt, approx. 2 in. wide, signed under shoulder seam and on back of sash, "Fortuny," lg. approx. 55 in. Lg. varies, hem is uneven (possibly cut down and re-hemmed). From shoulder to hem lg. 51 1/2 to 54 in. Both sides appear to be equal, no apparent front or back. Some staining/discoloration to armhole area on both sides. Some browning to surface fabric, mostly at pleats. A few small holes throughout, mostly near hemline. Losses to stitching in a few small areas, a couple areas of re-stitching/repair. All beads appear to be intact, a couple loose. A few brown spots to fabric. Sash with some wear to edges, and a small hole in middle (which does not go all the way through).
