Large Otto Heino Stoneware Bowl Studio pottery California, 21st century In overall semi-matte cream and brown sand speckled glaze with lavender, mauve and gray accents to exterior, incised Otto + 01 on base, small chips to base, ht. 11 5/8, approx. dia. 13 in. Note: The Heinos met in New Hampshire while at attending classes at the The New Hampshire League of Arts and Crafts. They attended a conference in California and met Beatrice wood, Bernard Leach, Shoji Hamada, among others. They taught at Choinard Art Institut for thirteen years training other potters. The Heinos love of their craft kept them focused on acheiving superb glaze results predominantly using the woodfiring technique. Much of their work was sold from their Studio in Ojai.
