American School, 19th Century Three Kline Family Portraits. Unsigned. Oil on canvas, c. 1850, depicting John P. Kline, his wife Louisa Jane and their son Frederick, of Rockville, Connecticut, 26 x 21 in., in matching molded giltwood frames. Condition: All three with craquelure, the portrait of the woman has a patch on the l.c. bottom of the canvas, several small scattered paint losses. All three with craquelure and varnish yellowing, the l.c. patch on the woman's dress is about 3 1/2 x 2 in. tapering down to 1/2 in. with a small tear remaining on lower edge of patch, the paint losses are on her hair and a few very tiny ones on forehead and chin, and few in the background and on her dress, the woman also has possibly later red paint applied to highlight her hair; the man and the child are in good condition.
