Arts & Crafts Moonstone and Sapphire Pendant Necklace, attributed to F. G. Hale, the wirework pendant with bead motifs bezel-set with cabochon oval and circular moonstones and circular-cut sapphires suspending a fringe, suspended from a conforming necklace, joined by delicate curb link chain, gold mount, lg. 20 1/2 and 3 1/4 in., unsigned. Note: For a pendant with similar wirework, signed by Hale, see Skinner's Fine Jewelry, March 14, 2006, auction no. 2311, lot 371. This necklace was recovered during the sale of household items of a Boston property that had belonged to the Hale family. Hale Necklace Because the necklace is about 20 1/4 in. long, with the additional length of the pendant hanging down (about 3 3/4 in, it seems that some of the chain is missing from the ends by the clasp, maybe 4 or so inches. There is no signature. The stones and mount have light surface wear, not obtrusive. The moonstones have pleasant adularescence, and the overall impression of the necklace is a very good one. there is some grime or possibly old solder at the top end of one of the moonstone groups where it attaches to the chain
