Blue Dragon Robe, Chifu , China, Qing Dynasty (1644-1912), embroidered in couched gold-wrapped threads with eight dragons pursuing flaming pearls amidst clouds, bats, and the eight Buddhist emblems embroidered in Peking knot stitch, a ninth dragon on the underflap, above a lishui border with the eight treasures ( babao ) and other auspicious emblems amongst the rolling waves; the black collar, horse hoof cuffs, and trimmings similarly worked, 56 x 88 in.
